Explain a DigiD login problem in Dutch

Practise calling a support desk. The result you need is to restore secure access to an account. This lesson turns that one real-life task into Dutch phrases, two answer models and a recording routine.

Independent practice. This original lesson is not official exam material. Use the responsible authority for current exam formats and official mock exams.

Read the situation like the listener

The support employee needs the failed step, what still works, the recent number change and a security-safe next action. The immediate difficulty is that the SMS code does not arrive. The useful fact that changes the conversation is this: your telephone number changed last week. Never read passwords or complete codes aloud. Describe the stage where login fails and ask how to change the number through the official process.

Where: calling a support desk.

Message: the SMS code does not arrive.

Evidence or constraint: your telephone number changed last week.

Agreement to reach: restore secure access to an account.

Six Dutch phrases and their meaning

  1. 01 Ik kan niet meer inloggen met mijn DigiD.
I can no longer log in with my DigiD.
  2. 02 De sms-code komt niet op mijn telefoon aan.
The SMS code does not arrive on my phone.
  3. 03 Mijn telefoonnummer is vorige week gewijzigd.
My telephone number changed last week.
  4. 04 Mijn gebruikersnaam werkt nog wel.
    My username still works.
  5. 05 Hoe kan ik het nummer veilig aanpassen?
How can I change the number securely?
  6. 06 Heb ik daarvoor een nieuwe activeringscode nodig?
Do I need a new activation code for that?

Sort the six lines into opening, explanation and closing. Record the opening first, then add the explanation and agreement in two separate rounds.

Choose information that earns a response

For this municipality conversation, make an administrative or community request concrete with a document, date, observed problem and next action. Avoid asking what to do before saying which document, login step, local issue or appointment you mean. If one Dutch word disappears, describe it more simply and continue; the listener still needs the problem, the decisive detail and a next action.

Two Dutch answer models to adapt

A2

Short request

Ik kan niet meer inloggen met mijn DigiD. De sms-code komt niet op mijn telefoon aan. Mijn gebruikersnaam werkt nog wel. Heb ik daarvoor een nieuwe activeringscode nodig?

Change the person and one practical detail before recording. Keep the request audible.

B1

Connected explanation

Ik kan niet meer inloggen met mijn DigiD. De sms-code komt niet op mijn telefoon aan. Mijn telefoonnummer is vorige week gewijzigd. Mijn gebruikersnaam werkt nog wel. Hoe kan ik het nummer veilig aanpassen? Heb ik daarvoor een nieuwe activeringscode nodig?

Use all six lines only when each one helps the other person decide or act.

Mark the sentence carrying the most important fact. Build a new answer in which that fact changes while the communicative structure stays intact.

Make the task harder without changing its purpose

A2

Say why you are speaking, explain the SMS code does not arrive and ask for the action contained in restore secure access to an account.

B1

Connect the problem to “your telephone number changed last week”. Add a realistic alternative if the first request cannot happen.

B2

Compare two solutions through rules, feasibility, privacy, access and public benefit. Recognise one disadvantage and state the condition behind your choice.

Four recording rounds

  1. Round 1: State the request before giving background.
  2. Round 2: Add one cause and one visible consequence.
  3. Round 3: Say the same message politely but firmly.
  4. Round 4: Finish without notes by confirming a date or action.

Change the facts and answer again

Practise a missing activation letter and a blocked app instead, while keeping personal security details out of the spoken answer. This second version tests whether you can transfer the message instead of reciting it. Add one plausible listener question and answer it without restarting.

Check the outcome

  • My opening names the subject without a long introduction.
  • Cause and consequence belong together.
  • Politeness does not make the request vague.
  • The follow-up contains a usable time or action.
  • I included this required detail: your telephone number changed last week.
  • I finished the message before correcting pronunciation.

Compare two recordings; do not turn this checklist into an official score or pass prediction. For an exam, practise the official interface, timing and instructions separately.
